DAF 66 YA (1975) Variomatic in Restored Condition

Very well-presented and clean DAF 66 YA from 1975.
Based on the standard DAF 66, but specially built for the Dutch Army. These versions were equipped with a 24-volt electrical system and a reinforced body. A nice detail: this type was built in Eindhoven rather than in Born.

This particular example has been restored over the years and has been refinished with a new coat of paint. The paintwork is in notably clean and tidy condition, something rarely seen on this type. There is no rust present, including the underside. The exterior features the correct decals and original military lighting, all of which is fully functional at both the front and rear.

In addition, this vehicle is fitted with a new soft top and new doors, both in excellent condition and easy to remove or fold. The windscreen can also be folded down, adding to the open driving experience.

The dashboard is neat and well laid out, featuring a speedometer, fuel gauge and rev counter. All original identification plates are still in place, and the map light is operational. Not original but practical additions include a radio and an original DAF centre console. The seats are in tidy, lightly used condition and offer comfortable seating, even on longer drives.

Technically, the car is equipped with the original 1,108 cc four-cylinder engine producing 50 hp, paired with the well-known Variomatic automatic transmission. The engine has recently received a major service, including new spark plugs, fluids and belts. New shock absorbers have also been fitted all around.

The DAF 66 YA drives exceptionally well, responds eagerly to the throttle and the Variomatic operates as it should. Thanks to the reinforced body, the car feels stable on the road and despite its rugged appearance offers a surprisingly comfortable driving experience.

For the enthusiast, this is a well-maintained example, ready to be enjoyed in the upcoming summer season.
